mike's buick 1Award for Smallest Car of the show, he showed me the engine bay too and it was Immaculate!

fiat22Always wanted to ride in a Porsche 914, sort of the Lotus Elise back in the day, like how low the seats are and the minimalist interior. I want those seats w/ the inlays!

interer2I love these headlight brush guards, a german touch-

Porsche 912- Spotted

One thing I love about European classics is the rarely seen “club badges” or “grille badges”. They always display a sense of pride and value in well built cars. It was the hand shaped fenders, hand stitched leather, and hand plated trim surrounding such cars that induced pride and joy in the sight of the finished product. The badges were added street respect, seeing one or two on the front of a car means the owner knew their car, and were deeply entrenched in the culture surrounding that genre of automobiles. Check out this 912 sporting some PCA  pride on it’s back.IMG_0709IMG_0708IMG_0705

Fastback-German Style

Here lies a once-fresh VW 2 door fastback, a variation of the Bug and Squareback wagon. Yeah I’d say they got the fastback part right. The patina tells the rest of the story.IMG_0711 IMG_0712

Magnus Walker-Turbo Fever

Magnus Walker is a widely respected Porsche tuner based out of L.A..  He fixes up early 911’s, giving each one his custom touches whether it be a thorough restoration or a full on track car.  Anyone that has heard of the Porsche 911 knows of it’s versatility, and performance orientation. My great-Grandpa owned a few early 911’s in his time, and he drove each one up to Mammoth for the annual ski trip. He also used them daily for spirited driving around the twisty and banked canyon roads of L.A.. The early 911’s were perfect for such situations, and the latest model is just as capable in either environment. However, the Porsche 930 was built with one concentration in mind- speed. This meant a stiffer ride, turbo engine, flared fenders, and an overall wider race car-esque stance.  This is just a few of the reasons people such as Steve Mcqueen bought one, and why they have become so sought after in the classic Porsche market today. The latest Porsche video from Magnus’s site features one of his 930 turbos in German silver metallic showing off its curves in broad daylight. Video Credit goes to Dutchman Photos who has been consistently putting out great shots and footage of these gorgeous German machines. I am sure I speak for many when I say that I can’t get enough of Magnus’s diverse and intriguing 911 collection. Featured image above courtesy of Dutchman Photos, and MagnusWalker911.com. Enjoy-

Idaho Porsche Club Meet

Last weekend my Mom and I were cruising in a breadbox rental car, and we stumbled upon an Idaho Porsche Club meet! Everything from period correct race cars to pristine original vintage Porsches, this show had many examples of both. It was held in a parking lot of a new development area just outside of Meridian, Idaho. It just goes to show that classic Porsches bring a unique car culture no matter the venue.

Enjoy!
