GT500E Interior Shot- Old but New

The GT500 Eleanor from the latest movie of Gone in Sixty Seconds to say the least. However, it is a different type of special, a modern, fast, stunning mixed with old school fastback looks. The video at the beginning of the week gave you the looks and the sound, now here’s the inside.

GT500E Startup and Rev- Mmmm Supercharger Whine

This marks the first post of 2013, and the also the first Pomona Swap Meet of 2013. I happened upon a done-up-well GT500E (Eleanor Mustang) at the car show section, and the sound is unlike any other muscle machine on the planet. The camshaft burble combined with the supercharger whine creates a perfect mix of gorgeous sound.  Here’s my video of the moment, hope you enjoy it as much as I did-

Early Birds, Two for One edition- Ford Falcon

Early 60’s Ford Falcon- the trusty little car named after a bird. Here are two examples of early Falcons, both seemed to be daily-driver-used.

I am surprised the beige-colored 4 door sedan is still running and driving by the looks of shape it’s in. In some ways it’s a sad moment to see a car in this condition, but in many cases it’s somewhat inspiring, and a testament to the build quality back in the day. It shows use, and it reminds me of my favorite family road trips photo album, just thinking about the sheer amount of roads this car has driven is impressive, and the places and people it has seen could be very interesting if put in a movie format. For instance, in what circumstance did the column-mounted shifter decide to stay slumped down in who knows what gear when parked? Overall it’s a relic, and nobody can say that this car, with a faded Mexican blanket as a seat cover and an ashtray containing enough cigarettes to take a year off your life,  does not have character.

The yellow panel wagon- this strikes me as a sort of rare Falcon, considering they made several different types of Falcons (2-door sedan, 4-door sedan, 3-door station wagon, 5-door station wagon, 2-door hardtop, 2-door convertible, 2-door coupe utility, 2-door sedan delivery), I doubt they sell as many panel wagons as standard sedans. Either way it was the economic commuter car with style from ford. This one is in better shape than the other, but it is still a driver as seen by the jar of grape jelly sitting on the fender. Getting groceries in style.
